More than a day. It’s how we work.
World Mental Health Day 2025

At RX, we talk a lot about wellbeing - but more importantly, we try to live it. For us, it’s less about some perfect work/life balance and more about creating space where people can be human.
The truth is, things like empathy, flexibility, and community aren’t perks - they’re what make work feel sustainable. Our Comparably Awards for Employee Happiness and Work/Life Balance are nice to see, but what really matters is the everyday support people give each other here.
This World Mental Health Day, it’s a reminder that showing up for one another is what actually makes a difference.

Sarah Hicks, Workflow and Sponsorship Planner, UK
Health and wellbeing are essential to a thriving workplace. When people feel supported, they’re more engaged and motivated. After being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis over 20 years ago, RX’s support and role adjustment have helped me maintain both my career and a healthy work-life balance. Without the added pressure my previous role entailed with travelling and being on-site, has allowed me to adjust my way of working successfully, which in turn has benefited my health while remaining a productive member of RX. On a personal note, this year has been tough for me ̶ I lost both my mum and my younger brother just four months apart. It’s been emotionally overwhelming, and that’s had an impact on my health too. I’m grateful to my line manager and our department manager, who have been incredibly supportive throughout. They’ve consistently reminded me to prioritise my wellbeing, and their support has meant a lot during such a difficult time.
Marcio Alves, Portfolio Director, Brazil
Prioritising health and wellbeing means being able to show up as my best self, both at work and in my personal life. When we take care of our mental and physical health, we build resilience to face challenges, stay creative, and support each other. For the company, it creates a culture where people can thrive, which ultimately drives innovation, collaboration, and long-term success. At RX, I feel supported through flexible working arrangements and a genuine respect for work-life balance. Whether it’s the encouragement to disconnect after hours, or initiatives that focus on wellbeing and inclusion, RX creates an environment where people feel valued beyond their role. That support makes a real difference in staying balanced and motivated every day.”
Taro Ogino, HR Manager, Japan
In Japan, there is a phrase rooted in sumo culture called “Shin-Gi-Tai” ̶ mind, technique, and body. To me, achieving wellbeing means working toward bringing these three elements into balance at an elevated level. When they are aligned, I feel more positive, creative, and motivated. Ideas and actions naturally become more constructive, and most importantly, I develop a stronger drive to deliver better results. That personal growth and energy, in turn, directly contribute to the success and growth of the company as a whole. What I especially appreciate is the experience of coming into the office. At RX Japan, there is always something new to look forward to, whether it’s seasonal decorations, team gatherings, or other small touches. Beyond daily work with my colleagues, RX Japan also fosters wellbeing through initiatives like our “SEKAHIRA” project. This includes community activities such as neighbourhood cleanups and supporting traffic safety for elementary school kids near our office. These efforts strengthen my sense of connection to local society and bring genuine emotional fulfilment.
Anneke Baeten, Marketing Director, Australia
Everyone who knows me understands that I need to do my rock climbing several times a week to keep me on my toes, literally. If you thrive on fast and creative problem solving, calculating risks, and finding solutions on the go, then I recommend this sport. Without it, I would probably unravel as I need the total health package of benefits that climbing provides. With the demands of work and parenthood, it's easy to sometimes lose focus of my own wellbeing. When I need to attend an after-hours call but also need a climb, I solve the time constrain issue with a creative solution ̶ I do both. All I need is my headphones. Some days the wall stays empty, and the laptop stays open, but I also know that I am empowered at RX to feel I can do both, and I know that the outcome is what makes me show up at work each day in the capacity required.
Sammul Wang, Senior Data & CI Executive, China
Personal health is the cornerstone of efficient work. When I feel physically and mentally strong, I think more clearly, have more energy and contribute more value to the team. At the same time, when a company prioritises wellbeing, it enhances our sense of belonging, motivation and loyalty. Our Social Club organizes activities such as yoga, boxing, and traditional Chinese acupuncture, helping us reduce stress while staying active and connected. These initiatives are shaped around employee needs, showing genuine care for both physical and mental health. RX also supports flexibility through work-from-home policies and caregiver leave, giving people the freedom to balance personal and family responsibilities. Together, these human-centred measures help employees focus, feel valued, and build a stronger sense of connection to the company.
Megan De Jegar, Portfolio Director, South Africa
Taking care of our health fuels not just our personal lives but also our work. When we prioritise our wellbeing, we fill our cup so we can handle day-to-day challenges with more energy and creativity. Finding balance makes work smoother, more enjoyable, and ultimately more satisfying, proving that taking time for ourselves is the secret ingredient to a thriving life both on and off the clock. Our MD, Carol Weaving, has been a real game-changer over my past 10 years at the company, especially during my maternity leave. When I was preparing for some time away, Carol made sure a solid support system was in place so I could focus on my family without any worries. With our team’s collaborative spirit and empowerment, everyone pitches in to create a balanced work environment. Plus, the introduction of a company-wide mental health day really shows how much RX Africa values our wellbeing.
Jane Wray, Finance Director, France
The wellbeing of my team is paramount. In Finance, the year has peaks and troughs and if we don’t prioritize wellbeing in the troughs, we won’t be able to perform in peak season. Here in France, we are back in the office three days a week and it's vital to get together as a team and just check in with each other, see how everyone is feeling and take everyone’s ‘mental temperature’; empathy is crucial. Our roles can be stressful but taking a little time out of our busy days for whatever brings each individual joy or empathy is important; it can be looking at baby pictures from a new mum, asking after the elderly parents of a colleague, taking part in our ERG (Employee Resource Group) events or simply talking about the latest football match. These small interactions build relationships and ultimately trust. They allow us to take a step back from the stress and appreciate our colleagues and their unique challenges and passions.
Ashley Geus, Director of Sponsorship, USA
Healthy minds breed great ideas and collaboration. When I don’t prioritize my mental health, I am impatient, irritable, and pessimistic. However, on the days I exercise, get outside, or connect with my loved ones I am energized, inspired, and excited to collaborate with my teams. It is important for everyone to take time to focus on themselves. I am expecting my second child and recently had a catch-up with my manager. After chatting through our agenda, she asked how I was feeling, and I shared that I was a bit stressed to get all our projects settled before I go out on maternity leave. She reminded me that my health and the health of my baby were more important than our projects, and that I have a whole team behind me to support while I am caring for my newborn. I really needed the reminder to reset my priorities and lower my stress so that I can be present for myself, my family, and my team.
Jorge Medina, Hosted Buyer Executive, Mexico
For me, taking care of my health and wellbeing means having the energy and focus to do my job well and enjoy it. When we feel good mentally and physically, we can handle challenges better and support our teammates. One thing I really value at RX is the flexibility and understanding we receive when it comes to balancing work and personal life. Whether it’s taking time to recharge, using wellness resources, or simply feeling trusted to manage my time, I know I have the support I need. That makes a big difference keeping a healthy balance and staying motivated.
