Equipotel has historical edition with record-high rates of satisfaction and fidelity from exhibitor brands

Events

Levels are the highest in decades of shows and kick off the commercial cycle for the commemorative 60th anniversary edition in 2023

São Paulo, September 2022 – Equipotel 2022 ended on September 16th with impressive numbers, in terms of both visitors and exhibitors. This edition broke some big records: the rate of satisfaction reached 90%, while fidelity, which measures exhibitors' intention to return, was at 81%, the highest levels ever of the event and equal to other large RX events like Automec and the São Paulo International Book Fair.

In this sense, the NPS (Net Promoter Score), a methodology that looks at the degree of recommendation, was 30% higher.  "It is, no doubt, something memorable, especially considering that Equipotel is Brazil's first business show, at nearly 60 years old. This result reaffirms the event's place as the most important center for hospitality business in Latin America and the substantial return for brands that invest in space at the show," says Mayra Nardy, Portfolio Director at RX.

Numbers

A total of 40,000 leads were generated for exhibitors, with R$ 120 million in business projected for the next six months, 30% of which was finalized during the four days of the event, held September 13th to 16th  at the São Paulo Expo. In addition to the average of 10,000 daily leads, business volume is looking to exceed 30% compared to the last edition, with 85% of exhibitor brands having a positive outlook on negotiations for the coming months.

"The statistics make official what we could already see and feel at the pavilion. We definitively held a multi-event, where the core of hospitality was translated into solutions for a variety of segments and, of course, converted into business. So much so that during the event many brands already confirmed that they would be attending the commemorative 60th anniversary edition, which very strategic, since this allows them to choose their spot on the floor plan," explains Daniel Pereira, Manager of Equipotel.

Over 320 brands attended this edition, showing more than 3,000 products in sectors such as: architecture and decor; laundry and cleaning; equipment, utensils and kitchen; technology and security; services and maintenance; and relaxation, wellness and personal hygiene.

There were also three spaces available to foster business: Conecta Club, Equipotel Business Talks with Resorts Brasil members, and the FOHB (Forum of Brazilian Hotel Operators) Buyers Meeting– these spaces had 21 buyer companies taking part, along with 65 suppliers, at 302 meetings and R$ 11.4 million in business expected over the next 12 months.

Public

In terms of visitors, 18,339 hospitality industry professionals attended, of which 85% were decision-makers, 70% were in leadership positions, and 60% had funds to do business during the show.

Exhibitors

For its second time at the event, Colchões Ortobom introduced a line of mattresses made exclusively for the hotel industry, including the Orthotel Dupla Face, a recent launch with slatting that means the mattress won't dip when a guest sits or stands up, and fabric with an anti-dust and antifungal treatment, for people with allergies. "The big difference that we saw was the number of visitors received. We were very happy with the public, not just at our stand, but at the show in general. The event has grown and we hope it keeps growing more and more," says André Fernandes, National Hospitality Manager for Colchões Ortobom.

With 100 years of working with bedroom, bathroom and dining products, among the highlights from Altenburg were its 300-thread count sheets and higher GSM robes and towels for luxury hotels, with unique finishes. When discussing movement at the stand, Rose Molon, the company's National Hospitality Manager, said that: "we welcomed a very qualified public, looking to get quotes and do deals. We left the event with excellent results. We came with a business target, but we also placed significant priority on our customers, who are already partners. Not all negotiations were finalized at the show and they may last up to three months after the event. We believe that in at most 60 days we will have surpassed our established target by around 10 to 15%."

The big draw of Mandoá Chocolates, a company from Ilhéus (BA) that makes "treats" for hotel rooms and reception areas, were its organic chocolates, its gift line and label personalization. "The market is running at full steam. We welcomed visitors from every state and from other countries like Argentina, Uruguay, Portugal and even Canada. If one-third of the visitors who came to the stand do business, it will be excellent. Our expectations were exceeded 100%,” says Antônio Vieira Júnior, the company's Commercial Manager.

Visitors

Camila Nadal Rossitto, a Corporate Events Coordinator for the Accor Hotels chain, has worked in the area for 17 years and she usually visits Equipotel to keep up with the latest. "Many of our suppliers have stands at the event and we come to find what's new, geared more toward technology that makes work easier for housekeeping staff. We also saw suppliers of amenities, with sustainable products, which I really liked. We need products with less plastic, and we saw one exhibitor with a line of bamboo cotton swabs and toothbrushes. There is a profile of people looking for these products, and it's our responsibility to offer more eco-conscious solutions."

Hospitality Seal

At this edition, the Hospitality Seal highlighted solutions from 32 brands, based on innovation, design, sustainability, technology, savings and usability, for different hospitality services, such as Wet Cleaning, with more sustainable dry cleaning equipment, a floating capsule, furnishings with sustainable products, mattresses, smart platforms for administrative and maintenance management, and bedroom, bathroom and dining items, such as the Bonna line of porcelain ware, with plates imported from Turkey that have an unbreakable edge and guaranteed longevity, leading to fewer expenditures on item replacement.

Christian Caires, the Marketing Director for Bitz, a hospitality automation company, pointed out another example of a product that received the seal: the Electronic Housekeeping app, which fulfills all of the hotel industry's service needs, from a standardized cleaning checklist for rooms to time control, entry of products consumed by guests, easy checkout, maintenance requests and even notification of forgotten items. This saves time, in addition to delivering better quality for the guest experience, along with ease, quality and standard processes in housekeeping."

Experiences and content

In addition to the exposition space, Experience attractions included experiences like the Design Room, with its neuroarchitecture concepts in a real-size room and current trends in decor, as well as the Virtual Experience Room, where visitors could see two room models using virtual reality. They also had access to a day of content, with talks at the Hospitality Workshop, BCB Xperience, Motel Xperience, Equipotel Studio, Corporate Governance Workshop, Hospitality Technology Tools and the Tech Workshop, in addition to the National Congress of Hotels (Conotel).

On Wednesday (Sept. 14th), the second day of the event, the 60th edition was announced, which will take place September 19th to 22nd, 2023, at a new venue: Expo Center Norte, in São Paulo.
